Circus residence at Lokomotivet 

Mer Dans åt Folket in collaboration with Cirkuscentrum and Eskilstuna Municipality, offers a residency for a circus group/artist in December 2024 at Lokomotivet in Eskilstuna. During the 5 day residency you as an artist/group will have time to focus on your work. The purpose of the residency is to offer time and space for reflection, investigation and artistic deepening. We welcome groups in different parts of the creative process, from early research to the completion of a production.

Sunday 1 December 8 am - 5 pm
Monday 2 December 8 am - 5 pm
Tuesday 3 December 8 am - 5 pm
Wednesday 4 December 8 am - 5 pm
Thursday 5 December 8 am - 5 pm

What is included?
- Access to facilities adapted for circus and dance. See technical spec: https://www.merdansatfolket.se/scenloket
- Amenities such as dressing room, washing machine, shower, toilets and kitchenette.
- Possibility of external eye in the form of choreography, directing or dramaturgy with Jannine Rivel and/or Amanda Billberg by agreement.
- Public meeting will take place on the 4 December at 15.00 at Lokomotivet.
- Residency support of SEK 10,000 + SEK 3000 travel and accommodation. 

Public meeting
You choose what you want to share at the public meeting and whether you want to target a specific audience. For example, it could be a studio show where children and young people can see how your practice works. Or a work-in-progress show that welcomes the public to take part in your work. We are also open to your own suggestions.

Mer Dans åt Folket works to show, share, talk about and produce dance and choreography with professional dancers, choreographers and independent cultural practitioners; for the general public and with specific target groups in mind. Since the autumn of 2023, our home stage and production site is at Lokomotivet in Eskilstuna. Here we create performances, have our office and stage. We have adapted the premises to accommodate dance and circus groups and also create dance and circus performances here.

Cirkuscentrum is a national non-profit association and expert body that promotes circus, supports artistic development, offers daily training and skills development, and strives to improve working conditions and infrastructure for professional circus artists.

With funding from the Swedish Arts Council and in close collaboration with Eskilstuna Municipality, Mer Dans åt Folket has created a platform for dance and circus at Lokomotivet. We aim to create a structure where more independent dance and circus groups can establish themselves and operate from this location in collaboration with us.
